How the solver works
How do I use the solver?
Enter today’s center letter in the yellow box, then type the six outer letters in the second box (in any order). Results appear instantly — every valid Spelling Bee word that uses only those seven letters and contains the center letter, grouped by word length.
Where does the word list come from?
Our solver uses a curated word list built from common English words that match the NYT Spelling Bee’s vocabulary style: at least four letters, no proper nouns, no obscure or offensive terms.
Will it find every NYT-accepted word?
The NYT’s exact word list is proprietary, so no third-party solver is 100% perfect. Our list catches the vast majority of valid answers and matches our editor Margaret’s hand-verified solutions for current puzzles.
How is the score calculated?
4-letter words: 1 point each. Longer words: 1 point per letter. Pangrams (words using all seven letters): +7 bonus points. Genius is 70% of the total maximum.
